Isgar and Sons, near Shaftesbury, Dorset, specialise in the rearing of quality dairy cross calves to weaning, for sale and on a contract basis.
Aberdeen Angus and Hereford, both Heifers and Steers, are our specialities here at Dengrove Farm. However, we do have experience of rearing many other breeds and, in particular, we do have a vast knowledge of the rearing of British Blues. All animals are reared to the same high standards we have set ourselves.
All calves arrive here between one and three weeks of age, having been sourced by our local calf specialist. They are cared for in our dedicated rearing sheds where conditions are maintained to keep all calves healthy and developing well.
Typically calves are weaned at two months of age, however, the animal will only be weaned when its condition allows and feed intake is at a threshold level for a consistent time.
Once weaned the animals continue their development on a tailored blend of barley, soya and rapemeal. Calves are available for sale at around the four to five month age.
Pre-booking of calves can also be made 4-6 months before required delivery to ensure the availability of the calf numbers, but this is not essential. Deliveries can be arranged throughout England and Wales.
Alongside calf sales we also have some contracts available for calf rearing. If you are after a conscientious and experienced calf rearer then we may be able to help. Of course contracts for calves other than Aberdeen Angus and Herefords can be discussed. Do please contact us for any questions or enquiries.
